Yellow Ribbon Art Exhibit 2011 - Singapore Art Museum

The best rehabilitation regime is of no use if ex-offenders (ex-convicts) are rejected at every turn when they are released back into the community. We must not look at the past but look at the future.

It is disheartening that ex-offenders have to live with the stigma of having served time behind bars when they are released from prison, one that can often be more punishing than the prison sentence itself.

Many ex-offenders, once released, finds themselves literally stepping into a second prison; a prison with invisible bars, of suspicion, of mistrust and of discrimination.

It amazes me that the artists were in prison and now living their lives free for the second time.

The yellow bag with a personalised notebook, postcards of the inmates' painting, yellow ribbon mini-clips, magnetic fridge tree and a bottle of mineral water for those who visit the exhibit for free.

A great cause to support and show that you care.
